Bulgaria is fast becoming a skiers paradise. With heavy investment being made into the winter sports industry across the country, the facilities in the resorts are among the best in the world. Apart from the snow Bulgarian resorts offer some excellent and diverse apres ski activities for both the adults and the children. Much of the pisted areas of Bulgaria are more suited to beginners and inexperienced intermediates. However the cheap availability of heliskiing opens up massive areas of off-piste areas, enough to test anyones skills. The resorts are divided between the Pirin and the Balkan mountains.

Despite the fact that Bulgaria uses the Cyrillic alphabet, signs along the major roads, at hotels and airports are all printed in Latin characters as well. English is widely spoken at all of the resorts.

The most popular skiing resorts in Bulgaria are Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo which are all easily reached from the capital Sofia.
