Glaciers, high altitude pistes & excellent facilities. Austria has the perfect ingredients for a fantastic skiing holiday.

Austria prides itself on being a nation of skiers, with some of the best skiing slopes in the alps and easily accessed from the international airports at Innsbruck and Slazburg.

Austrian resorts are split across three main areas. The Tyrol is what many people think of when they visualise skiing in Austria, centred around Innsbruck. The Vorarlberg is the province of Austria closest to Switzerland and boasts its own fine ski resorts.

Then there are the pistes near Salzburg, perfect for a mixed holiday with all of the nightlife and shopping of Austrias second city combined with some of the best high-altitude skiing in Europe.

Austria is renowned for its ski mountains possibly more so than any other skiing country in Europe. With names such as St. Anton in Tirol, Lech am Arlberg, Kitzbuhel in Tirol and the Tyrolean capital city of Innsbruck and its surrounding villages,

Austria can take its place amongst the big ski countries in any part of the world.

Austria has great and fun skiing in many provinces. The Tirol, Vorarlberg and Salzburgerland spring most quickly to mind, but here are other provinces and less well-known Austrian ski resorts as well. And here we try to provide you with lots of accommodation possibilities too. Hotels in Austria are among the world's best and are most often good value for money.

The height of the Austrian skiing season is February with the most visitors in the Tyrol region to the west near Innsbruck. Austria continues to be one of the most popular destinations, possibly because skiing in Austria offers the fabulous combination of wonderful sport in stunning alpine scenery, with picturesque villages and a friendly atmosphere.
