Amidst the magnificent scenery of the Bischofsmütze mountain and Dachstein glacier, Filzmoos is the typical Austrian village, but with many facilities close at hand. Nursery slopes, conveniently in the village centre, are gentle and ideal for beginners and the central ‘Papageno’ six-person gondola gives access to marvellous descents directly down to the village. Wherever you ski, the slopes are usually uncrowded with virtually no lift queues. More adventurous skiers can catch buses to nearby villages with more challenging runs. |

Après ski is excellent at one of Filzmoos’ characteristic bars or cafes. Or perhaps join a sleigh ride through the forests to the romantic Unterhofalm with local folk music, an ideal end to the day.
Filzmoos has excellent facilities for children and families, a ski kindergarten for 3 to 6 year olds, comprehensive lessons, and plenty of off-piste activities. Every January Filzmoos hosts a week long, world famous balloon festival. |
