Exeter Travel - Ski - Austria - Alpbach
Travel from Exeter to family friendly Alpbach, a traditional Austrian skiing village. |
An hour from Innsbruck, Alpbach is one of the most attractive villages in the Austrian Tyrol with its traditional overhanging eaves and balconies, set against the backdrop of the Gratlspitz peaks. Beginners can learn on the centrally located slopes directly beside our Hotel Böglerhof. Intermediates can enjoy a variety of tree-lined runs on the nearby Wiedersbergerhorn and the Inneralpbach and Reith slopes, all reached by a short bus ride from Alpbach. Enjoy 20 kms of cleared winter paths or join an excursion to Innsbruck or nearby Rattenberg. In the evening, sleigh rides to the ‘Rossmoos Inn’ for Glühwein are great fun and après-ski is informal and relaxing with popular haunts such as the ‘Jakober Bar’ and the ‘Postalm’. |
Alpbach's snow park, which opened for the '96 - '97 season, includes an intermediate standard half pipe, the longest 40 metres long. Otherwise 'boarders will find plenty of natural terrain features to enjoy, including some excellent long red cruises and off-piste powder routes. Although the village nursery slopes are drag lift driven the gondola served main mountain terrain, including additional altitude blues for the less confident has a lot going for it. Ski kindergarten is available for 4 - 6 year olds from €50 a day and the resort has some excellent child care facilities. |
